National S’mores Day is always on August 10th. I could not find why August 10th was set as National S’mores Day, but my guess is that lots of people go camping in August and s’mores are always a part of camp outs! S’mores are a sticky and gooey goodness that are loaded with carbs and sugar but worth every delicious bits! They have a graham cracker on the bottom, then a layer of melted chocolate, a roasted marshmallow, and a graham cracker on the top. So good!
The first recorded recipe for s’mores appeared in the magazine Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts from 1927. It is thought that the Campfire Girls were the creators of this recipe in the 1920s. More than likely, s’mores got its name around a campfire when the children licked their fingers and wanted “some more!” How do you like to make s’mores? We want to know!
