One of the questions in a Life Plan is about community service. So what is community service? Community service is a volunteer service or activity that is done by a person or a group of people for the benefit of the public. What kinds of community service are out there? I tutored 1st through 5th graders in a volunteer after-school program. Kaboom, AmeriCorps, Playworks, Hands On Schools and Share Our Strengths are just a few of the volunteer organizations around here that help make safe environments for children to play and learn in. The Red Cross and Citizen Corps are two other volunteer organizations that promote community health and safety. Volunteer organizations tha
t support keeping our environment clean and healthy are Alliance For Community Trees, Keep America Beautiful, RelightUs, and AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps). AmeriCorps VISTA, Habitat For Humanity, HandsOn Action Center, Help USA, and Share Our Strength work on local economic programs to make our communities, nicer, safer, and healthier places to live in. There are also the American Red Cross, Blue Star Families, and the Mission Continues are volunteer organizations that give support to our military families.
