In November's meeting Shasta County wanted to adopt a family for
Christmas. They decided to adopt a family from Redding. Butte County also
wanted to adopt a family for Christmas. They also decided to adopt the same
family for Christmas. Both Presidents got together and decided to combine their
money together and buy them a swing set. Both Presidents took it back to their
chapter’s and discussed it with each other. Both chapters agreed to it and the
presidents called one another on the phone telling one another how much they
were going to donate for the swing set Chico People First donated $300.00
dollars and Shasta County People first donated $250.00 dollars. They were still
short of what it would take to purchase the swing set, so People First of
Corning voted to go together with them to purchase the swing set. Right now
they are asking for volunteers to get the back yard ready and put the swing set
together.
Jenelle is now the new President for People First of Shasta
County. In February People First of Shasta will have a firefighter as a guest
speaker. He will be discussing firefighting equipment and safety.
