How Can We Eat Enough Protein Every Day?

In the last post, I wrote about eating enough protein in between all of the yummy fun holiday foods. With all of this sugar, we really need to make sure that we are eating our daily protein amount because protein slows down the break down of sugar into our blood. So how can we get enough protein? Here are some foods that are high in protein:

  • 8 ounces of low fat milk has 8 grams of protein
  • 8 ounces of low fat yogurt has 11 grams of protein
  • 4 ounces of low fat cottage cheese has 13.5 grams of protein
  • 1 ounce of low sodium mozzarella cheese has 8 grams of protein
  • 4 ounces of unsalted cashews has 10 grams of protein
  • 4 ounces of unsalted almonds has 15 grams of protein
  • 4 ounces of unsalted peanuts has 27 grams of protein
  • 8 ounces of beans – types of beans can vary from 12 to 15 grams of protein
  • 3 ounces of chicken breast has 27 grams of protein
  • 3 ounces of pork has 21 grams of protein
  • 4 ounces of ground beef (1/4 pound) has 20 grams of protein
  • 1 fillet of fish – kinds of fish can vary from 29 to over 60 grams of protein (and little fat)
  • So pick what you like and add up what you eat!
