Hammock Day is on July 22, right in the middle of Dog Days. Dog Days is the name for those hot days from July 3 to Aug. 11. In early times, people who lived in the countries around the Mediterranean Sea said that the period from 20 days before to 20
days after the moment of Sirius (the dog star) crosses in front of the sun were Dog Days. These days were hot days that were filled with disease and discomfort. So Hammock Day is in the middle of these hot uncomfortable to give us a day to relax in the shade on a hammock with something cool to drink!
