His real name was John Chapman, and he was a nurseryman, a missionary and a conservationist. He began planting apple trees in New York and Pennsyvsania, but he wanted to move west. So as he moved west, he planted apple trees all along the way. He was very kind and generous, and protected animals as well as trees be cause he was a leader in conservation.
