Thanksgiving is this week! The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621, but it was not celebrated every year until the 1800s. It was originally a three day feast where they ate a huge variety of animals, fowl, and the abundance of fruits and vegetables from the fall harvest. In 1941, Congress made the fourth Thursday in November a national holiday called Thanksgiving.
Did you know that potatoes were not part of the first Thanksgiving? Irish immigrants brought them to North America years later! Thanksgiving began because the pilgrims and the Indians wanted to thank God for His gifts! Many people still give God thanks for all that He gives them. I’m thankful for my jobs, the place where I live, my health, my friends, and my church to name a few. What are you thankful for? Let us know!
Hi!
I am thankful for my family, friends and fellow co-workers. I am truly thankful to have a job. Most importantly, I am thankful for my relationship with God.
