I love this question because it reveals so much about the person who is answering it. We actually have more control over how others see us than we may think, because we all wear our thoughts in one way or another. For example, I want people to see
who I am, that I am Jessica and not CP. But if I”m always thinking about it or thinking, “I can”t do this or that because I have CP,” then CP is what people will see and talk to. As it is, I never think about having something most don”t have unless people pester me about it. Even when I crash and burn, I still don”t think about having balance problems. To be human is to occasionally crash and burn! For me, not thinking about what”s “wrong with me” is not being in denial, because I”m usually responsible for taking care of my needs, like bringing straws with me. I just never think about why I need certain things like straws or why I lose my balance. The result is that others often forget too and simply see me. It gets to be rather funny when those who forget end up asking me to do something I obviously can”t do. I love that!
