Independence Day!

Did you know the our declaration of independence from Great Britain was voted in on July 2nd, 1776? On July 2nd, 1776, our Declaration of Independence was voted in, and then on July 4th, 1776 Congress gave its final approval on the Declarat

ion of Independence document. John Adams was George Washington”s vice president, and he predicted that the Declaration of Independence would be celebrated for generations to come, and he was right, though he missed it by two days! He also said that it should be celebrated “with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

Here is trivia for you! Did you know that out of the 56 men who signed our Declaration of Independence, two became future presidents. John Adams became the 2nd president of the United States and Thomas Jefferson, Adams” vice president, became the 3rd president. Also, both Adams and Jefferson died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration.
