I love today! It is September 28, which is National Good Neighbor Day! I love this day because I have such awesome neighbors. Being a good neighbor is an important part in the social network needed to make life run smoothly, so it is good to have a day to celebrate good neighbors! National Good Neighbor Day is not a day to promote sales or a cause, it is a day to celebrate and honor the good neighbors around us.
In the early 1970s, Mrs. Becky Mattson from Lakeside Montana saw the importance of having good neighbors, so she set to work to set aside a national holiday for celebrating good neighbors. Congressman Mike Mansfield helped her to have presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter as well as many governors announce a Good Neighbor Day. National Good Neighbor Day was celebrated on the 4th Sunday of September until the Senate made September 28th National Good Neighbor Day in 2003. So take today to celebrate your good neighbors, or get to know them if you never have!
