This made me laugh! July 6th is International Kissing Day. So of course, the purpose of this day is to appreciate the kiss. Today is a good day to find that person who is close to your heart and give them a kiss. Some think that kissing began millions of years ago from the mouth to mouth feeding of parents to a child. Now kissing is a display of endearment and comes in many different ways. A peck on the cheek is often exchanged between friends, babies are kissed all over, and a father or mother figure may kiss a son or daughter on the forehead to show tender endearment no matter how old they are. A kiss on the hand often shows honor and respect, and a kiss on the mouth is shared between lovers.
People are not the only creatures to kiss. Apes, cats, dogs, and dolphins, are only a few of the animals that give too. Kissing does have its down side because people can pick up 80 million microbes of bacteria through kissing. This International Kissing Day (on July 6th) seems to have been started in the United Kingdom, while National Kissing Day (on June 19th) was started in the United States and several other countries.
The World Record Longest Kiss: Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarathold from Thailand hold the longest kissing record of 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds.
