The last Monday in May celebrates Memorial Day. Memorial Day was set up as a day to honor the men and women who have given their lives for our freedom and our country. It started in 1865, at the end of the Civil War, and was originally called Decoration Day, but it was changed to Memorial Day in 1882. It was also celebrated on May 30th until Congress changed it to the last Monday in May in 1971.

Memorial Day is all about celebrating those soldiers and other men and women who have given their lives and still are fighting for our country and our freedoms so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have. Congress changed Memorial Day to the last Monday in May to give people a three day weekend. So how are you going to celebrate Memorial Day? Let us know!
