This caught my interest because I love to learn new things, and museums are like a playground for people who love to learn! Museums can have one subject as their focus, like the bird museum I went to when I was young. I loved it! Looking at all the different birds and seeing how each species fit in its habitat completely fascinated me. Each species of bird builds nests differently because of where they live and what materials they have to work with. Each species also has its own eggs that are unique in size, color and speckles.
In 1977, the International Council of Museums set aside May 18th as International Museum Day. The goals of International Museum Day are to highlight the importance of museums and to allow museum professionals more chances to meet the public. Museums are very important because they are full of historical, cultural and scientific information, but they need support from the public to stay open. So today would be a great day for each of us to visit, appreciate, and support our local museum.
