October 27th (or October 13th for some) is Navy Day, a day that we in the United States celebrate our navy and the sailors who serve our country! The navy is the whole body of a country’s warships and their aircraft, personnel, equipment, etc. A lot of nations around the world have a special day set aside to celebrate their navies, and each country has picked a date that is special to their navy, which is usually the birth date of their navy.

Our navy’s birthday is October 13, 1775, and many people have tried to make October 13th Navy Day. However, in 1922, the Navy League for the United States set Navy Day on October 27th, the birthday of President Theodore Roosevelt because he was a very strong supporter of our navy! Do you know anyone in the navy? Let us know, and celebrate them today!
