The Health Benefits of Pumpkins!

Pumpkins are a superfood vegetable! You may have never guessed how healthy pumpkins are, especially when they are prepared with spices instead of sugar and fats. They have a lot of vitamin A, which helps make eye sight better. They are a good source of the B-complex group of vitamins like folates, niacin, vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), thiamin and pantothenic acid. Pumpkins can also help keep skin young, lower cholesterol and weight and protect against pancreatic cancer, mouth cancers and lung cancers. The dietary fiber and potassium in pumpkins are good for digestion, and the iron and vitamin A and E strengthen the immune system to fight against sicknesses, heart disease and some cancers.

Pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of protein, minerals and amino acid tryptophan, which can help with depression because it makes us happy. They can stop the prostate gland from growing too large and lower the chance of bladder stones. Pumpkin seeds also have great amounts of dietary fiber and mono-unsaturated fatty acids that are good for heart health. So try snacking on some seeds while slicing up the flesh part and cooking it with a little extra virgin olive oil and your favorite herbs!pumpkin
