Today is Elephant Appreciation Day! Wayne Hepburn started Mission Media Inc in 1996 and chose September 22 to be Elephant Appreciation Day because he really liked elephants. His daughter had given him a gift that was a paperweight of elephants on parade, and he liked it so much that the began collecting elephant books and paraphernalia. His interest and love of elephants brought him to start this day for enjoying elephants!
So Elephant Appreciation Day is a big, elephant-size day to celebrate elephants in a big way. This is especially fun for kids, little kids and big kids, so show them how much you appreciate them by going to a zoo or wildlife park!
