I found this to be very interesting, so I thought I would write about it today. On March 31, 1889, 125 years ago today, the Eiffel Tower opened in Paris, France. It was designed and built by engineer Gustave Eiffel’s Eiffel Establishments Company. The Eiffel Tower was made to be the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair. Many people did not like it, but it has become a global picture for France and is one of the best known buildings in the world. It is also the most visited structure that people have to pay to see. The tower is 1,063 feet tall, which is about as high as an 81 story building. It has 3 levels that people can get to by stairs or elevator. The 1st and 2nd levels have restaurants, and the 3rd level is an observatory that is 906 feet above the ground, which is the highest place in a building you can get to in the European Union.
