Saint Patrick’s Day!

Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland who they say brought christianity to Ireland. He was born in Roman Britain at Banna Venta Berniae in 387, and it is believed that he died on March 17, 461. Most of what we know about him comes from his writings, the Confessio, a spiritual autobiography, and his Epistola, where he publicly condemned the British mistreatment of Irish christians. He used the shamrock to explain the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as the Trinity to those who worshipped idols. Saint Patrick described himself as a “most humble-minded man, pouring forth a continuous paean of thanks to his Maker for having chosen him as the instrument whereby multitudes who had worshipped idols and unclean things had become the people of God.”
