I had to laugh at the idea of Cow Appreciation day, especially because I knew someone who married a girl who liked to chase cows! What is Cow Appreciation Day for? Are we suppose to find a cow and give her a big hug and kiss?
Well, you can if you want to, but I thought we could look at all the things cows do for us. We all need protein – .37 x your weight in pounds = number of grams of protein you need every day. I need 37 grams of protein every day, and cows help with that because I personally need mostly animal protein. Cows give us lots of protein in many different ways! They give great milk, for those who can drink it. I love milk! Milk can be used to make all kinds of creams and cheeses (yum!) and yogurt! Cows also give us meat like steak, ribs, roast, and ground beef. I just made up a new recipe: bell pepper (I like yellow peppers) stuffed with layers of ground beef or steak and cheese.
Note: Some dairy companies and restaurants celebrate this day by offering specials, so watch for them!
