The World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium put together the Charter of Paris as a way to bring researchers and health-care professionals together with industry partners, governments, patients and the media to fight cancer. In 2006, the International Union Against Cancer made February 4th World Cancer Day. The focus is often on preventing cancer and making cancer patients more comfortable. On World Cancer Day, people, non-profit organizations, businesses and governments work together to help the general public learn more about the different types of cancer and their treatments, how to watch for it, and ways to prevent it. I’m sure that we all know someone who has had a form of cancer. A friend’s little boy had leukemia, but he is fine now! Do you know someone who has beaten cancer? Let us know!
