We had a Leadership Conference this weekend, and it was amazing! On Friday, Daniel Meadows spoke on how to lead from the middle and really hearing what people have to say. He talked about the characteristics of a good leader, then we broke up into
small groups where we discussed what makes a good leader and share our thoughts about the questions we were asked. Saturday morning, we watched a movie about how institutions were run and how they treated the people who lived there and how things have improved. Then we discussed our rights and the things we have to fight for today. After a short break, Rebekah and Johnny gave a presentation for S.A.Y. on Bullying, and Rebekah gave great examples of bullying and how to communicate clearly and powerfully. Forest also presented about DAN (Disability Advocacy Network), and we discussed how to strengthen and better the People First meetings while possibly expanding the group and building networks with other disability advocacy groups. It was a great weekend! Thank you to everyone who made it happen!
