Staying Healthy and Safe

Staying healthy and safe is very important, but it takes time and effort.  Remembering to lock doors at night and making sure that we don't go anywhere alone at night are ways to stay safe.  Eating healthy food and exercising are important ways to be healthy.  I eat bananas, peaches, and grapes when I can, and I juice my vegetables because they are hard to eat.  The vegetables I juice are different combinations of ones that are rich in nutrients: spinach, red cabbage, broccoli, bell peppers, tomatoes, carrots, and celery.  I also limit my sweets to one small thing each day, and most cereals have so much sugar in them that a bowl of cereal counts as my one sweet thing for the day.  However, I ate too many sweets last week, and now I am payi

ng the consequences.  For exercise, I do as much for myself as possible and use my less controllable hand when time allows me to go slower.

To stay safe, we keep our doors locked and the porch lights on.  If we have to go somewhere, we always park in well-lit places, we don't go alone, and I always keep an escape plan in mind.  These are some of the ways I stay healthy and safe, and they are explained in my Life Plan.  My Life Plan also explains how others can help me to stay healthy and safe.  How do you  stay healthy?  How do you stay safe?  Do you have a Life Plan?  Do your friends and family and support people know how to help you to stay healthy and safe?  Let your Service Coordinator know if you would like your own Life Plan.
